New Year New You!

For many it has been a slow start to the New Year especially if we are in the Northern part of the Hemisphere and have been dealing with the recent weather disruptions. The ice and snow really forced people to stay inside and take the time to just hibernate. Some of my friends got creative and got online to offer tarot readings to their virtual friends to pass the time. Others took the opportunity to get outside and build snowmen and go sledging with family and friends. For me it has been studyi… Continue

Dolphin - preparing Yoga headstand by strengthening your arms and shoulders

Strengthen your shoulders and arms as preparation vor Shirshasana, Yoga Headstand. You need to strengthen your muscles in shoulders and arms to be able to do headstand - in headstand most weight should be on your elbows. In Yoga Vidya we teach that you should be able to do 8-12 times this dolhin exercise before attempting this headstand. And even if you can't do headstand, you can still get lots of benefits by practicing dolphin. More infos on Yoga on

Afghanistan Zen Stick

Happy Christmas to everyone! Wishing you all a wonderful 2010!

Having had a really wonderful Spring, Summer and Autumn I have been left feeling like there was some grounding needed, some sort of reality check in and as my daughter is away with her Daddy this Christmas I have had some very indulgent mornings and have been watching the morning TV Video Christmas wishes from troops out at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan. One in particular blew me away and whacked me over the head with a Zen Stick of g… Continue

Iyengar Trained Yoga instructors.

To the Yoga Sangha Community,

I am looking to connect with any Iyengar Trained Yoga instructors on this site in hopes of having discussions regards teaching. I have just begun my journey in teaching yoga, I currently live in Grenada, in the Caribbean & have no physical resources to turn to when I have a much needed question specifically with some of the asana sequencing of Mr. Iyengar. Hope to connect with any experience/ any level of instructors.

Thanks
Namaste

Sharing from Osho... The Silent Point

Hey everyone, I was reading Deva Premal & Miten's newsletter and at the end of it they had this from Osho which I felt compelled to share...

"Archimedes used to say, 'If I can find a silent still point in the universe, I can revolutionize the whole world.' But he never found it because he was always looking outside. And that silent still point is within you; it has never moved. The earth moves, the sun moves, the stars move, now everything is whirling; but something within you is always abs… Continue
